Remember when I used to blog?

So I've been pretty much absent all summer long. I do have a reason. After losing my Granny Carol in June I was having a difficult time catching up and keeping on top of things. I finally started to catch up when my Grandma Ward very suddenly passed away on August 1st. She had surgery after breaking her femur and ended up passing away from a blood clot that developed because of the surgery. Losing both of my grandmas in 6 weeks has been devastating. My mom and sister have both written beautiful things about Grandma on their blogs. They've really summed up so much about her, and I have a hard time voicing what all she was to me. But I can tell you this; she was a woman who loved her family and loved her Lord. She lived a quiet life in the country. Each of my grandparents are, obviously, so very different. But I know that when I was a kid going over to Grandma Ward's was just a time to kick back. We could wonder around her property without worry. We could feed her chickens or go into her garden and pick the tomato of our choice (which I would eat like an apple. There is NOTHING like a Missouri tomato!) She was an amazing gardener, seamstress and Grandma. I now have 2 holes in my heart that won't be filled till I see my beautiful grandmas in Heaven. I can't wait for that day!

...on a more chipper note! This blog is going bye bye! I've got a brand spankin' new blog that will be launched any day! Along with that I will post like TONS of weddings and portrait sessions that I've been doing this summer. There will also be some fantastic contests!! We will be giving away really REALLY good stuff!

Erica & Russell's Wedding: Ceremony and (more) Formals

Hey... so remember that one time I said I'd post more of Erica's wedding pictures? Yeah... it seems vaguely familiar to me as well. I thought I could fit the reception pictures in this post, but that just ain't gonna happen. So, someday, you'll see the reception pictures. Hopefully sooner, than later. Ceremonial Blessings did all the decor for the wedding. If you've read my blog before you've probably heard me talk about them. Almost all of the nicest weddings I have ever done were decorated by Tabitha and her staff. They are fantastic!!

I told you, fabulous!

On our way to the reception we stopped downtown for just a couple more shots of Erica and Russ and the wedding party. This is probably one of my favorite bridal party shots I've done.

Reception pictures coming soon.... hopefully....

Brandy & James Engaged: Stillwater, OK

And guess where I got to go to shoot their engagement session? That's right! Only the best school in Oklahoma! Brandy and James both graduated from OSU and are getting married there. So it was only appropriate that we did their engagements there. I really enjoyed getting to know them. And other than an evil goose chasing me (and making me scream like a little girl) the session was a lot of fun. We wondered around campus and even ran over to Eskimo Joe's for a few shots.

Doesn't Brandy have fabulous taste is dresses? She also had the most precious little blue number that was so retro I just couldn't even handle it. I can't wait to see her wedding dress because I know its going to be killer!

Allie & Zac's Engagement Pictures: Tulsa, OK

Allie & Zac are just too fun! And they were an absolute breeze to photograph! Allie was a bridesmaid in Kristin's wedding. (I love referals from awesome brides!!) Allie and Zac are planning on tying the knot in September at the Barn, and I can't wait. After getting to know them I just know their wedding is going to be fabulous! I'm so glad I get to work with such fun people that are totally into the whole experience! We headed downtown for their e-session. It was one of those days where we had a nice break from the hot weather. aww!

I'm not sure what it is about this shot that I just love! Allie's expression is adorable though!

This picture takes me back to college when I had a professor that was always emphasizing "repeated pattern". I love repeated pattern. (Thanks, Poppy!)

Granny

My Granny was the greatest. I wish more of you could have known her. I've been told a lot this week that I'm kind of like her, and what a great compliment that is. So maybe by knowing me, you can get a glimpse of her spirit. She was quirky, funny, and ridiculously talented. I mean... really funny, and really talented. I can't tell you how much I miss her. Today was my first day back at work, and I suppose, the first day when life was supposed to go on. But I've discovered that just because the funeral is over, I'm home, and back to work, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt just as badly. There's a hole in my heart that won't be filled till I see her again in Heaven. So, because I can't, go squeeze your grandma really tight and tell her how much you love her. And for you photographers that read my blog, go photograph your loved ones. I'm so thankful I took this picture, because I captured her the way I knew her.
I want to thank my incredible clients who have been so amazing and patient this past week. I truly am thankful for those of you who were so understanding. I also want to thank everyone for the nice comments on my blog, Facebook, Twitter, through email and text messages. It really means a lot.
